QUESTION:I'm about to get a new gas furnace installed. One of the bids I've
gotten looks very attractive as it is for an Amana Model GUIC070
( 70,000 BTU Input Rating, 80% Eff) which has a SS Heat Exchanger.
It's on sale here in So. Ca for $1420 installed until March 15th and
it has a lifetime Warranty on the Hex and 5 years on the other parts.
Normal installed price is $2250 installed! Does Amana have a good
reputation? Thanks for any tips
ANSWER: Amana makes a good furnace. One of the only brands with stainless
steel in an 80%. They use White-Rodgers controls, like Trane. Sure is
a good price. Make sure no corners are being cut, such as chimney
liners!
