QUESTION:I have an Amana gas furnace that uses a Robertshaw 41-401 ignitor or
equivalent. When the furnace was new the ignitors lasted for several
years. For a good while now, though, I have been burning them up at a
high rate, as many as two per year. Does anyone have any suggestions
on how to improve the reliability of my ignitor system?
ANSWER: Amana was saying they was going to the round hard as steal type , but
has not went to that type yet. They are still using the flate and
breaks when the wind blows on it type still now. There is a new ignitor
out that will stand up to being driven into a 2"X 4" but i'm still
waiting for them to get to my supplier. So the answer now is no but maybe in the future be yes.
