Emergency weekend furnace repair
QUESTION:On another website I follow someone is "whining" about how much it
cost to get his furnace repaired on a weekend. It did seem excessive (over $600) but is that usual for such repairs? He thought the parts
were inconsequential. A scheduled repair around here costs about $75.00
plus parts based on recent experience.
ANSWER: Yes , I do this for a living. $75.00 + parts for regular service seems very reasonaible and good. Now Service call on Sunday nite , call on the spot and come NOW , and do so.
This is a $150.00 call out charge, + $75.00 per hour + Parts. You will be
explained to that i will get good money to do this but if you wait till
Monday morning at 8:00 am It will cost $75.00 for first Hour + $45.00 per
hour there after + Parts. Now this will be if I / My service company does
not do your work. If i do all your work or have a service contract with you. If you call me on
Sunday nite the call out charge is dropped and use straight day rates. Then
call me on monday morning you get Straight day rates but cost is held down
to a minium , but can refer to service agreement and cost of labor might Be
Zero and just + parts applys. Now accounting for a $600.00 bill for a call out on Sunday Nite. $150.00
call out charge + 3 Hr at $75.00 per hour to change out Blower motor and
Squencer on furnace -- Motor $184.00 --- sequancer $54.00 = a $613.00 Fee
for nite weekend call. Now just a call out to tell you to wash your filter. $150.00 call out + $75.00 first hour = $225.00 Total cost. Now if i do all your work or have a service contract. These prices are cut
way down.
