Furnace Filter Material

QUESTION:

What kind of furnace filter are you using?
I have been unable to locate the American Standard suggested at The Plant Place. Our Home Depot people have no clue & Walmart no longer carries it.

ANSWER:

Which is probably made by the same people who sell the better-grade filter material.
My biggest gripe with furnace filters is they tend to disintegrate after about 2-3 months. The bonds aren't what I call strong. I have filters made out of the "pond" filter material (made in Georgia) that have held up for 3 years and don't show any sign of slowing down.
