Furnace Filter Enclosure

QUESTION:

Believe it or not my furnace does not have anyplace to put a filter. I actually have to use duct tape to hold one in place. Is it possible to purchase an after market enclosure that I can install or what would it cost to have someone come in and bulid to fit? This type of furnace sits in a crawl space and is the horizontal type.

ANSWER:

The filter SHOULD fit between the furnace and the outgoing ductwork. Often there is only a 1" wide slot, which may be covered by another piece..look carefully..if not, check the size of the outgoing rectangular ductwork immediately adjacent to the furnace and call a few heating/AC shops from the YelloPages to get an estimate
