Furnace Repair Information

QUESTION:

Homeowner left decision-less There is no excuse that after repeated attempts to get some kind of cost estimate from the technicians and by phone to the furnace company that the Homeowner would be denied this information. The Homeowner was expecting a bill not to exceed $200 on both calls and if he had only been given the information he was asking for he would not of gone ahead with a repair cost of $688.12 and $1271.17 for a total of $1959.29 for something he could have repaired himself for less than
$200. His total bill which he was expecting to be no more than $400 came to him in the mail weeks later at the cost of $1959.29. Any intelligent person given the information he requested would have considered replacing the furnace which would have cost less and came with a warranty! This goes to the attitude that this company felt if you call them . they take control and you have nothing to say about it.
Note: When I was informed that the technicians were about to replace the control board without first replacing the blower motor as they had promised, and that the control board they were about to install involved hours of labour and snipping of wires from my furnace, I called the furnace company office immediately and asked them to explain but got ...

Inducer motors typically run $380 an up if you need an inducer wheel as well then it's going to be more. especially if you've got an 80%'er that's been condensing water. Nobodies going to give a rats ass that an office isn't maintained in your teaming little Metropolis. Could be a contractual thing where Gananoque Fuels has a sub handle the service and they supply just the fueloil. Or it could be a company that once existed and either bought outright or it's assetts
