QUESTION:First and foremost lose the repair man then call a reputable service company out
for the diagnosis and estimate... And expect to pay a reputable company for a
diagnosis.
It would be a waste to 2nd guess some of the possibilities here. Hope this gets
you going in the right direction. If you disagree with my prognosis of losing
the guy then you deserve him!
ANSWER: All I know is what I have from the owners and install booklets that the
prior owner left. Its a "Counterflow Hi-Efficiency furnace with Hot surface
ignition". it seems like every appliance in this house is whatever was the
cheapest model when they built house...I am fearing I will have to replace
it...the furnace tech said its highly likely that its fixable. I asked him
to fed ex. the parts! 10 days is too long! I am in Tacoma, WA (USA). It
snowed for the first time last night.
