QUESTION:My brother has an Coleman Evcon propane furnace in his
trailer. He says whenever it fires up, the gas ignites like a bomb.... a
big WHOOOMP. According to Coleman, they feel the gas pressure that is
regulated at (on) the furnace is set too high. The local gas fitter
claims there is no adjustment available on the furnace. So...... Does anyone have any ideas as to whether this is he cause of
the loud ignition, or could it be something else.
ANSWER: I had a neighbor that had this problem with his old gas furnace. It turned
out the pilot light had a partially plugger orifice, resulting in too small
of a flame, so it wasn't close enough to the main burner. Whatever kind of
igniter is on your furnace probably is not close enough also.
