QUESTION:Does anyone know what became of International Heater Co. of Utica, NY?
Are they long gone or maybe bought out by someone? I Have an old oil furnace of theirs (1952) and am curious as to where,
nationally or regionally, I might start searching for parts for the
thing. Any help or pointers to likely parts resellers would be appreciated.
ANSWER: I am pretty sure they have gone out of business or have sold out and
have changed their name. There is one place could check out and then e-mail
the web site they should be able to help you. Check www.firedragonent.com/ .
The site deals with oil burners and they should be able to help you on
where to get parts. But you should be able to get generic parts from any
HVAC contractor or parts wholesaler. Just make sure you get the model number
and serial number of the furnace. The model and serial number of the burner.
There is one thing have you thought of getting rid of that 45 year old
furnace and getting a brand new oil furnace. The efficiency of that furnace
must be in the 55 to 65 percent range. A new oil furnace would run in the 82
to 85 percent range and in Vermont you should get the new furnace payed off
in a few years from the savings. With the age of the furnace I would not
recommend installing a new high efficiency static oil burner. Talk to your
oil delivery company they can recommend a good hvac contractor to you. In
some cases the oil delivery company also runs a service and replacement
service.
