Peerless Boiler

QUESTION:

I have a old (guessing 1960's) peerless boiler for my hot water heat. the problem is, when I light the pilot light it stays lit, the burners fire up for 1 cycle, then when the house is up to temp, the safeties kick everything off. sounds like a big switch is being thrown in the electrical system. just had boiler serviced last winter, replaced the thermocouple, had the wiring checked out by a electrician friend. he couldn't find anything. a new boiler is out of the question as well as having some overpaid repairman out to fix it. that's where I come to you guys. don't tell me WOAH shut it off or you will blow up or some useless crap like that. there is no danger from that. as I mentioned, the safeties work 100%

ANSWER:

Problem 1 is that its old....they only build them to last 20 or so years. Problem 2 is that you refuse to have it serviced by a *competent*, licensed, insured, professionally trained, HVAC technician. Problem 3 is that it is cycling off on safeties. Problem 4 is that you don't have a clue about what is dangerous or not. Problem 5 is that if ignorance is bliss, then you must be euphoric.
