Rheem Furnace Repair Parts

QUESTION:

Does anyone know if Carrier stands behind these warranties or are they outsourced to a 3rd party? It would be nice to see the small print before agreeing to extended coverage. Several Carrier dealers in Canada that I have discussed this with are telling me the extended warranties are underwritten by a 3rd party insurance company and as such are not guaranteed by Carrier .. In the event of a claim, you are dealing with an insurance company who may (or may not) be there 5-10 years from now. Other have told be these are Carrier Warantees

ANSWER:

I suppose the question that should be asked here is "Does Carrier *need* a 10 year extended warranty?" The next obvious question is probably going to be "If Carrier *needs* a 10 year extended warranty, then why is it not "standard" from the factory?" I have found that my clients are very impressed with the "standard" warranty on the Energy Star compliant(12 SEER and above) equipment I sell (Rheem) of 1 year p & L, 5 years *all* parts, and 10 years compressor. Never had a client ask about extended warranty on any new equipment.
