QUESTION:I had to mill the end of my gearbox to accept a collet During the process it ended up being easier to take a part off after I had it mounted on the milling machine. Anyway this caused the oil to leak out The manufacture recommends Mobil synthetic sch 634 And there is a score of places that recommend it for band saw Gear boxes to what have you. I just need a quart or 2 and am having a hard time finding it Something on line would be great as I live on Whidbey Island in Washington
State. And don't seem to be able to find it close by I would be glad for any help wouldn't be bugging you But hope some one knows and can save me a lot of trouble. I have spent a couple hours looking and it hardly seems worth it For a couple quarts I would like to stay with the recommended oil. But I do have a couple courts of royal purple gear lube sitting on the shelf
ANSWER: Good heavens where were you last winter? I had two 55 gal barrelsof the
stuff give to me cuz I have a waste oil furnace and a friend said he needed
these two barrels to go away. It went away but not without a fight. That
stuff has about 634 viscosity rating, look it up if you don't believe. I
tore up two pumps on my furnace before I figured out what it was. The only
way I could burn it was to preheat the oil tank to 110 degrees F with
various electric heaters and such and then burn it. The same guy called the
other day and said I have more oil for you. Don't know what it will be this
time. Will let you know if it is the same. It is yours for the shipping and
packaging if I get more. I don't know didly about shipping liquids, but my
mom ships horse blood samples Fedex, so that might be a good place to start.
